“Hey Jude” is a staple song of the legendary Beatles. Written by Paul McCartney, it was released way back in the August of 1968 as the very first single for the band’s own label Apple Records. Clocking in at over seven minutes, at the time it was the longest single ever to reach the top of the British charts, while also attaining the top for whole nine weeks over the pond in the United States.
“Hey Jude”, at the time, tied the “all-time” record for staying the longest at the top of the US charts. Around eight million copies of the single were shipped, securing the tune countless appearances on a variety of greatest songs of all time lists. In 2013, it was named by Billboard as the 10th biggest song of all time.
