“Wonderwall” is pretty much the most well-known acoustic guitar song, ever. Written by the one and only Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, the track was released on the band’s sophomore studio, 1995’s “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”. Noel revealed the song describes “an imaginary friend who’s gonna come and save you from yourself”.
“Wonderwall” managed to top the charts in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. It reached the top ten on another ten charts, most notably in Canada at number 5, and the United States at 8, and also number 2 on both the UK Singles Chart and Irish Singles Chart. The single was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry and certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Within the online guitar community, “Wonderwall” became somewhat of an epitome for the most overplayed acoustic track there ever was, but it still hasn’t stopped players around the globe from performing it. And despite the lighthearted jokes, the tune remains a definite all-time classic.
